Press Release

A large green bottle, a beam of driftwood, parts of an old chair, a log of wood, bent pieces of metal, a steel shelf, volcanic rock and shards of tiles lie scattered across the floor.
A stack of vinyl records containing field recordings of inexplicable sounds and musical tracks.
A film narrating the unlikely story of the objects’ relation to the record.

Flotsam and Jetsam is a work comprising sculptural objects, a vinyl record and a film. The objects were constructed with materials - flotsam and jetsam - found on a small island, and were then used as musical instruments to produce the record. The film tells the story. As the title alludes to, the work is an examination of our relationship to historical forms, both conceptual and actual.

Flotsam and Jetsam is a collaborative effort by Jacob Dahl Jürgensen and Simon Dybbroe Møller with the participation of El Brown, Kerstin Cmelka, Raphael Danke, Jens Carl Daugbjerg, Michele Di Menna, Daniel Mueller-Friedrichsen, and Emily Wardill.
