Yoan Mudry

Yoan Mudry (b.1990, Lausanne, CH) is a multi-disciplinary artist, currently living in Geneva. He studied at HEAD in Geneva where he graduated with a MFA in 2014. His work focuses on an attempt to understand the mechanisms of the flux of images, narrations and informations that are surrounding our world.

    L'idée est de reproduire des couvertures de livres, certaines un peu modifiées. Ces couvertures sont mes lectures ""d'atelier"" et servent donc à comprendre mon travail en général.
    C'est une manière de donner mes réfèrences et de jouer avec l'écart entre la surface (ce que l'on voit) et le fond (ce qu'il y a derrière).

    Frantz Omar Fanon; 20 July 1925 – 6 December 1961, also known as Ibrahim Frantz Fanon, was a French West Indian psychiatrist and political philosopher from the French colony of Martinique. His works have become influential in the fields of post-colonial studies, critical theory and Marxism. As well as being an intellectual, Fanon was a political radical, Pan-Africanist, and Marxist humanist concerned with the psychopathology of colonization and the human, social, and cultural consequences of decolonization. In the course of his work as a physician and psychiatrist, Fanon supported Algeria's War of independence from France and was a member of the Algerian National Liberation Front.

    The title refers (is a tribute) to this website: http://www.theyrule.net/ This website allows you to connect to people who are part of boards of multinationals and see then to whom and how they are all linked. The containers refer to the same kind of thing: globalisation, circulation and finally power. The word Them! It's fonts come from an old classical horror movies with an invasion of insects. The two children have an "old school" aesthetic because they are from a publicity from the 60's. That could mean they probably now rule the world, as the insects in the movie and as the people in the board shown on the website. And also: that they probably rule it like if it was a simple game.
